Our client has identified a common data handling error that is reminiscent of the old method of tracking hours, where similar but distinct entries are made. These errors often result from misspellings and require additional accounting work to consolidate mistakes such as duplications or miscalculations.
Because our client has employees who work outside of the office and often lack internet access, a web application was not feasible. Instead, developing a mobile application that allows for offline data entry was necessary. The solution also needed to include an automatic cloud syncing feature to ensure that data was updated and accurate. The core functionality requirements for the platform included:
- Roles (Workers, Managers, Admins, Super Administrators)
- Supervisors and permissions
- Offline data entry on mobile application & sync with cloud
- Image attachment
- Tasks, locations, and expenses
- Invite users and assign supervisors
- Data export
- Assign available tasks, locations, and expenses
The timesheet application includes both web and mobile applications to provide a versatile experience, particularly for offline data handling. The system also includes permission and role assignment features that enable admins to limit employee access to resources, thereby reducing the risk of human error. We have adopted a serverless approach to building the platform to minimize costs, as the application only needs to run a few times a week.
